Our 7th anniversary in Venice, 1st part: Saturday
To celebrate 7 years together we (Cyrielle especially 😀 ) decided to spend a weekend in Venezia during the carnival , and despite the bad weather as you can see on my photographs, we LOVED it!
After half an hour in car, a drop-off, the flight and finally the bus, we arrived in Venezia at the beginning of the afternoon on Saturday, March 1st. Once at Venezia’s Piazza di Roma, we took the Vaporetto to go to our hotel Sant’Elena (Best Western Premier) located at the East end of the island. We dropped our luggages and went out for lunch, as even though we’ve been living in Spain for some time, we do not necessarily have the rhythm.
We noticed a small restaureant/bar only 2 streets away from the hotel in which we dived into. We asked if they still served food and the waitress told us no (we’re definitively not in Spain anymore!), but she could make us panini amongst other things. We ordered one each and ate them while walking towards Venezia’s centre.
Our very first visit of Venezia is a bit chaotic due to the (very) bad weather: strong wind and rain (showers at the beginning then diluvian). At first we plan to eat at a restaurant in Venezia then we change our minds when a true stream of rain and incredible gusts of winds (umbrellas were flying and breaking everywhere!) surely amplified by the narrowness of the streets strike us. Soaked from head to toes (not in a figurative way for once), we decide to get back to the hotel to take a shower (a hot one this time) and try to dry our clothes and shoes before going to eat not far from the hotel.
Luckily, not without a lot of effort, we managed to do all of this before going to the restaurant where we bought our panini a few hours earlier. By the way, we noticed the opening hours and this time we were in time for the dinner, and it was delicious!
After that we get back to the hotel and get to bed, exhausted by this day and whishing the weather will improve tomorrow.
To be continued!
