We hope you’ve had a great Christmas! We just spent one week in my family in Pézénas (south of France). We had a great time and I’m really happy we got to spend Christmas with my family this year.
Christmas Eve was a lovely dinner at my grandparents house. We had “gambas” and foie gras for our first course. Then we had a “vol au vent” as main course with salad. Cheese of course and then dessert!
After dinner, my mom, my dad and I went to the church to see the Christmas mass. It was in the church where Niko and I got married 6 months ago, and it was celebrated by the priest who prepared us for the wedding. It was lovely to see him as he is such a nice man and the mass was great.
The next day, Christmas day, we exchanged presents and we had another delicious meal. We had some more foie gras, turkey, of course, with potatoes and mushrooms. We had another round of cheese and as a dessert we had a traditional Christmas “log” (individual piece each as we could not decide on one that suited everybody!!)
On the 26th, which is not a bank holiday in France, we took my grandparents to see my brother’s recently built house. My brother has a company of prefabricated wooden houses and when he decided to buy a house, he did it through his company. It’s a beautiful 3-bedroom house in the countryside near Nimes.
If you’re interested in these types of houses and live in South of France, then don’t hesitate to go on their website to have a look at what they offer.
On Thursday, we had a relaxing day and in the evening we went to my mum’s cousin’s house to eat. It was very nice as her daughters and grandchildren were there, and I had not seen them in a while. It was actually the first time seeing them for Niko!
On Friday, we invited my parents and grandparents to Le Chateau de Lignan for lunch as it was my birthday the next day. That’s where we had dinner for our wedding and it was really nice to come back there. The food was scrumptious and the service excellent, as usual! If you’re nearby don’t hesitate to have lunch or dinner there. It’s a bit expensive but the “menu du jour” on weekdays lunch gives you a lot for your money. Go check their website here.
On Saturday, I spent most of the day with my mom, shopping in Montpellier. We went to a furniture and deco shop that I will talk about in a future post. Yesterday, 30th of December, we took the train to Lyon to go in Niko’s family. We will tell you all about our week there when we’ll be back to Spain.
Enjoy the New Year’s celebrations!
