Happy New Year 2013
After a week in Sissi’s family, we spent the second week in mine from December 30th to January 5th, date of our return trip to València.
So, we took the train to Lyon on December 30th, 08:11am at Béziers’ train station.
Once arrived in Lyon, late morning, my mother and my stepfather barely had the time to drive us at their house to leave our luggages that Sissi and I had to leave and drive to my father’s house.
We arrived around 12:45pm, where my father, my stepmother, my grandfather, my uncle (my father’s brother), my aunt and their twin girls were waiting for us to exchange our Christmas presents and to have lunch. After a good lunch, we spent a quiet afternoon talking with my father and my stepmother, the others having left a short time after the end of the lunch. We went back to my mother’s house around 10:00pm after eating some leftovers from the lunch.
The next day was New Year’s Eve, and we got down to help my mother and my stepfather to prepare the dinner (kitchen for me and decoration for Sissi). We had an excellent time that evening with my mother, my stepfather, my sister, her partner, his mother, my uncle (my mother’s youngest brother), my aunt and their 2 little girls (altough the oldest one spent the evening vomitting). After exchanging the presents, we sat down for dinner where the food was delicious (what a roast from the butcher, I still can’t believe it!), we wished each other a happy New Year and we finally started perfectly the new year by watching all together a few sketches from “Scènes de Ménages” (such an awesome show, I highly recommend it if you can speak French).
Happy New Year!
We woke up later than usual on this 1st of January 2013 with the idea in mind to do a -little- improvised photoshoot with my cousins (session that you will be able to see entirely in the next days on my photograph’s website: nicolasarmstrong.com/photography). No breakfast and a light (for some) lunch, then rendez-vous with my “binôme” (my partner back from engineer school, and my witness since last June) in the evening for Sissi and I where we had -once again I know- a really great time 🙂 (that ended very very late as well!).
January 2nd: Today, rendez-vous with another of my cousins to spend with afternoon with her and her family (her partner and their 2 boys and their girl). For once -irony- the lunch was brilliant, and so was the day spent with them. I did “plan” an outing in the forest for a little photo session and we all had a lot of fun! (once again, you will be able to see the full set on my website: nicolasarmstrong.com/photography).
End of the holidays in Lyon, now it’s time to go to Haute-Savoie where my grandparents (on my mother’s side) and my -another- oncle (my mother’s brother) live, on this chilly January 3rd. We (my mother, my stepfather, Sissi and I) arrived for lunch. We said hello and wished them a happy new year then we waited (not long) for my 2 cousins (two others again, I know I have 9 female cousins and only 1 male cousin!) to arrive before having lunch. We spent the afternoon all together at my grandparents’ during which I took a wicked pleasure to bother them by photographing them a lot 😀
That evening (or rather in the end of the afternoon) we all had to go to my uncle’s house where Sissi and I stayed over. Good surprise as my cousin (son of my uncle and my aunt) and his girlfriend were there as well. After a good dinner, drinks and laughs, we went to bed.
Friday, January 4th, it already was time for us to go back to Lyon and in a way to begin our way back journey in this freezing morning (yes, we got used very quickly to the “mild” temperatures of València). For this, we woke up at 9:30am and departed at 10:30am. A last thank you to my uncle and my aunt for their hospitality and we were en route to Lyon. On our way, we stopped at my aunt’s house to say hello to her and her 2 girls with whom we spent New Year’s eve. Finally, once we got back to Lyon, we spent the evening at “Hippopotamus” in “Carré de Soie” (Vaulx-en-Velin) with one of my friend (my witness) and his girlfriend to conclude (on a high note?) this crazy but wonderful week in my family.
Saturday was the day we got back to València. It started with a train departure from Lyon (Gare Part-Dieu) to Béziers, then we went to Pézenas where we had lunch with Sissi’s parents, and finally we left at around 02:10pm to arrive at 08:15pm (with a 15 minutes stop on our favourite motorway rest area near Barcelona).
Thank you everyone for being there and especially a huge thank you to my mother and my stepfather that did everything they could to help us and to keep up with us during that week 🙂
