Finally, we are on holidays! After four months almost non-stop (in Spain there are no school holidays in October, only a few bank holidays here and there), we have 15 days of well deserved holidays. I’ve been working really hard but I have enjoyed work! The children are all so lovely and affectionate, it’s a real pleasure to work with them and to receive so much love from them. I usually receive cards from students for Christmas but here I was overwhelmed with presents (I still find it quite unbelievable). This picture shows some of the presents I got:
As far as we are concerned we are now on our way to France! We are going to spend two weeks there, 1 week in the south and 1 week in Lyon. And Bones? She’s staying in a cattery. We took a picture of her before we left her there. She looks scared but she was actually alright. The room is big (like a bedroom) and she has her tree, her toys and her bed!
Yesterday we made our final Christmas shopping! We spent most of the day out in the centre of Valencia. It was a beautiful and sunny day like most days here. We are really loving it! It was 23 degrees outside and we had lunch at Subway for the first time since we left England. And we ate outside!!
We bought different typical Spanish Christmas treats for our families to (re)discover. One of the things that is everywhere at the moment is turron. There are LOTS and LOTS of different types. We spent about half an hour looking at them the other day; we did not know which one to buy!! In the end, we bought lots!
There are also Spanish biscuits called Mantecados and the choice is also big.
Oranges/clementines are not treats but are very common as they grow everywhere here. It is now the high season and we bought about 2kg of clementines at the market.
By the way the central market is a must see if you come to Valencia. It’s huge and offers a wide range of products! When we went yesterday, it was decorated for Christmas and there was a big manger in the center of it.
On this note, we wish all of you a Merry Christmas! 🙂
